6/12th Mitcham Sea Scout Group
Calling all Boys and Girls between 8 to 10 1/2 years old.
Looking for new friends and fun come and join us at 6/12th Mitcham Cubs.
We think it is important to have a balanced programme with fun games and learning lots of new skills. Scouting helps to make young people more rounded individuals where they get to experience lots of new and exciting activities and fun camps away.
Most weeks you will find us in our Scout Hall located on Glebe Court, Mitcham throughout the school term.
We meet on a Monday evenings between 6.45pm to 8.15 pm.
Playing games and completing a bit of badge work. This could be doing a craft based activity like designing their own flag or acting out a scene or learning about different cultures. We like our cubs to achieve a few badges per term such as Artist, Home Safety, Faith and Entertainment. Here is a link for more details on all the badges - https://www.scouts.org.uk/cubs/activity-badges/
Some cubs have given themselves personal goals to complete some badges at home like: Book Reader, Equestrian and Martial Arts in their own time.
Throughout the year we also like of offer the cubs fun activities which may take place on a weekend like kayaking, canoeing to power boating or a weekend camp somewhere.
Every year we take our Cubs on a week long Summer Camp where they learn to work as a team, how to put up tents, build camp fires, tracking skills, play wide games and complete badges such as fitness and water activities. They also get to try climbing, abseiling, canoeing, rifle shooting and archery.
At the 6/12th we like to take our Cubs to new places. Over the years we have been to great places (at little cost). We have slept on the Golden Hinde, visited Tate Modern & Science Museum & been inside 10 Downing Street. We have also been to our local places of interest such as the Mosque in Morden (largest in Europe), Mitcham Library, Mitcham Bowls club, a Jewish Synagogue, Church, Fire & Police stations. We also go to panto, Scout & Guide gang show, bowling, lazer quest and swimming!
We always attend district events (Badge & Adventure days). Our pack came 1st place in Handicraft competition in 2008 & 2nd place in 2012. We had high placings in sports day and swimming gala & runners up in Football. We also go to Gilwell's day out and went on the Scouting Centenary camp in 2007.
Cost of joining us at the 6/12 cubs is £35 per term with there being 3 terms per year.
All camps and other activities may come with a cost but we at 6/12 Mitcham do try our best at keeping these to the minimum.
As you can see we have a fun packed programme which we could not do without such a great leadership team.
We look forward to hearing from you.
